Welcome to term 3!

Welcome back to Primary 3 everyone. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful New Year. 🎉🎉🎉

We are now past the half way mark of P3 and what a time we've had! Every day we are reaching new targets, achieving success and having fun! For this blog we would like to share with you what we have planned for this term.

Maths:
For maths this term we are continuing on with our multiplication and divsion. We have moved on to our 4 times tables already and will be focusing on 3 x tables soon. Sophie and Aaron were excited at the idea of learning 2D/3D shapes -and the art involved in it-(we love art!!!) Also, soon we will have no excuses for being late because in term 3 we are also going to be focusing on telling the time! ⌚⌚⌚ We have started some revision of o'clock and half past. We will soon be working with quarter to and quarter past then linking it all to digital time.

The term sounds so busy already and we're just getting started...

Literacy:
Evie T thinks everyone should know about the joining up we will be starting shortly too....yup, that's right- P3 will be writing in joined up soon 😎. We have had a go at some patterns and keeping our pencils on the paper. We found it tricky but as we say in P3...it's not that we can't do it...it's that we can't do it YET! and luckily we are a hard working bunch, so we doubt we will even be saying that for very long. Orla was hoping that we would be continuing our VCOP writing challenges, and as always, we will be. We will be learning to up-level our work using wow words, connectives, openers and punctuation. Mr Millar reckons we will be writing like P4s in no time!
We have also heard some news about a new reading scheme taking place. It's called Project X. It sounds very exciting. Stay tuned to learn more about that over the next few months. For the time being we are still reading in class every day as well as reading at home for homework. We are also continuing to develop our reciprocal reading skills in term 3. Our focus will be questioning.

Topic:
Sylvia was eager to mention our topic this term- Scotland and Russia. We are excited about this topic because we've already found Russia on the map and it is HUGE! So we know there is going to be plenty to learn about, and as Jessica pointed out, there will plenty of art work to do (did we mention we love art?!)  However, we are a little nervous as Mr Millar made us aware it's our turn for a class assembly (eeeeeek) and we have chosen to base it on our Scotland and Russia topic. We will be starting to prepare for it in the next few weeks. The assembly is taking place on 8th February 2019 (unless any changes occur). See you all there! :)

P.E:
Austin and Daisy were good enough to remind Mr Millar about the change in P.E. We will continue working with Miss Tulloch on a Tuesday but now we have basketball with Mr Millar on a Friday. He has reminded us that we can keep our P.E kits in class to save us always having to remember to bring them in. Also, if we could avoid wearing jewellery on those days it would be great!

Spanish:
Michaela is looking forward to Spanish in term 3. So far we have learned some basic phrases like 'hello', 'how are you?' and 'goodbye'. We also continue to enjoy learning our numbers to 30 using class games like Bingo and Heads Down Boards Up. This term we will also focus on body parts and do you know what that means?..A whole bunch of Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes dancing! 💃💃💃

Extra Information:

Some of the class wanted to remind everyone about some other stuff happening with the area/in class.
Jessica pointed out we still have some pupils patiently waiting to be PATHS kid. Those who have already been PATHS kid have demonstrated the responsibilities it brings as 1 of their main jobs is acting as a positive role model for everyone else within the school. Devin is excited to get in to the Open Area because we have some new stuff to try out. Shane wants to remind people that Class Dojo is still going and Mr Millar has eyes on the back of his head 👀 😇. Finally, as we know you are all wondering...Lizzy the Lizard is getting on just fine. She is looking forward to what term 3 brings along.

Thanks for reading our P3 blog. Created by a very clever bunch of P3s, typed by their proud teacher.
