New Primary 3 First Post (Thank you Charlie for the title choice)

Welcome everyone to our 2018/19 P3 class.

We have been off to a very busy start for our first few weeks back, with lots of exciting new things happening. This is our last year as infants so we want to make it a good one!

Many of us are very keen to share what we have done so far and what we are looking forward to, so lets jump right in!

The biggest surprise Sylvia found so far is the morning challenge Mr Millar has set for us ALREADY! Every morning when we come in he likes to get our brains working straight away with a task. We are currently working out how to make a simple sentence into a bigger and better sentence by thinking of different connectives to use. And, if that wasn't enough, he gives us the answer to a Maths question but we need to think of what the questions could be. The possibilities are sometimes endless!

Sophie wanted you all to know about our Class Charter that hangs proudly in our classroom. We took part in a scavenger hunt around the classroom to find many of our Rights. Once we had found them all, we had a class discussion and vote to choose which 3 would be the most important to us this year.

P3 opening envelopes containing many of our Rights (with the occasional joke threw in because Mr Millar thinks he's really funny.)

Our final product! :)

Jessica, Charlie and Aaron wanted to share all the amazing learning we have started and will continue this term. They are particularly excited about our term 1 topic which will be on Ancient Egypt; the new skills we will be developing in Maths (we only had some sighs when times tables were mentioned!) 👀 and of course, the exciting new challenges that Literacy will bring. A class favourite seems to be the Kung Fu Punctuation we are using to help develop our VCOP.

One of the reasons pupils are so excited about all this learning, as Gabriella pointed out, is because of all the active strategies and learning through play ideas we are using in and out of class. See below some of the stuff we have been doing so far...

And finally, possibly the most important piece of news of all...The whole class wanted to mention Lizzy. We don't know too much about Lizzy... yet. Other than, she is a Lizard that has lived in this classroom for, well, no-one knows (not even Mr Millar!) Every morning Lizzy seems to be in a different part of the classroom. We are trying to figure out what her plan is... Stay tuned 👽

Everyone, meet Lizzy...
